About the course

This course introduces you to the field of vascular cognitive impairment research. It is presented by VAST's original Program Manager, Jolene Phelps. Jolene has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, during which she studied stem cell derived extracellular vesicles and their use as therapeutics in a number of different disease models, including their potential to induce angiogenesis (i.e., vessel formation) in cerebrovascular endothelial cells. A number of review papers are listed in additional resources which provide a good overview of VCI terminology, pathology, and diagnosis; as well as information on the neurovascular unit.
